A Short Story

The history of how it all started.

I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. My mother – a single mom, raised my brother and me with our grandmother’s help. There was not much money for college. Therefore, I understood from an incredibly early age that I would have to work harder and smarter.

At the age of 14, I took on my first large painting project. From that point forward, I understood that painting was hard work. A few years later, I graduated from Wake Technical College.

I had sales jobs early in my career. Ferguson Enterprises is a place that I could never forget. There, I worked my way up from the warehouse to counter sales. But even then, I felt that something was missing. I wanted to own something!

Reflecting on my first painting project, I obtained a painting position with a local painting contractor. That is when I gained sight of A Touch of Color. I saved enough capital to start up the business, and I have not looked back since!

We started off primarily offering painting services, but that didn’t last long! Many of our clients needed additional services directly related to painting. Only after our second year did we provide other services, such as siding and exterior trim replacement. After getting proper licensing from the North Carolina Licensing Board for general contractors, we aimed to improve the experience of our clients by offering even more services.
